Angenieux 25-250mm T3.9 (f/3.2) PL Zoom Lens
Angenieux's vintage zoom lenses from the early days possess a unique charm that sets them apart. They offer outstanding image quality, providing the sharpness most individuals require while imparting a distinctive character. These lenses feature older coatings that result in lower-contrast images, which can be quite flattering. Additionally, these coatings produce stunning magenta and amber lens flares. The bokeh effect is particularly striking due to some spherical aberration, giving this zoom lens a visual appeal that modern zooms can't replicate.
These vintage Angenieux zoom lenses have often been overlooked in recent times, mainly due to their rotating front focus group. However, thanks to the ARMA Cine Orbital system retrofitted on our vintage Angenieux zooms, this issue has been resolved. The introduction of the Orbital system, along with the wide focus gear, makes this zoom lens fully compatible with matte boxes and follow focus systems, making it ready for use in modern productions.
Notably, this lens can be seamlessly paired with other lens sets such as Bausch & Lomb Baltars, Super Baltars, LOMO Super Speeds, Kowa Prominars, and more. Although originally designed for the Academy 35mm format, which is smaller than Super 35mm, we offer expanders that allow this lens to work with a wide range of sensor sizes.
We highly recommend using the Veydra 1.2x expander in conjunction with this lens, particularly for cameras with sensors larger than Super 35, such as the Alexa Mini Open Gate and RED Gemini, Dragon, Helium. The Veydra expander enables these lenses to cover larger sensors with virtually no loss of image quality and only a minimal 1/4-stop reduction in light.
Minimum Focus: 5.5’
T-Stop Range: T3.9-T22
