ARRI/Zeiss Master Prime S35 PL Lenses
ARRI/Zeiss Master primes were engineered to the highest standards for both optical and mechanical design. The are virtually free of all aberrations, including focus breathing, something that had never before been achieved in a set of primes.
It is a mistake to think of Master Primes as being too clinical, when in fact they are capable of producing images that are as beatiful as they are sharp. They are slightly warm in tone, and have some of the smoothest bokeh of any lenses. They are at peak performance at T1.3, which is incredible. They are addictive to shoot wide open, but Chivo proved you can get gorgeous results shooting them at T8 which is obvious if you watch just 5 minutes of Tree of Life.
In addition to Emmanuel Lubezki, Master Primes are a favorite of many top DPs including Roger Deakins, who has shot many projects on Mater Primes including Skyfall and Sicario.
