Canon FD + FD-X TLS Rehoused FF Lenses
Check out these 1970s Canon FD prime lenses rehoused by TLS. These K-35 sister lenses are used by some of top ASC, BSC, IATSE 600 cinematographers for their amazing look and coverage. TLS has revolutionized the lens rehousing game, expanding coverage and enabling closer focus on lenses never before brought to digital cinematography. First by replacing the irises with new 16-blade irises, not only will the bokeh stay smooth and circular but every focal will carry the same iris. Something that can’t be said for all vintage lens sets.
While you may be able to find variations of FDs on the 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 55mm, 85mm - we can attest that our set has been hand crafted by selecting the cleanest, fastest and best matching lenses. So whether you are looking for a more affordable option to K-35s, or you need additional focal lengths to compliment our K-35s, these are a perfect choice.
The original key focal lengths of the FD set are the 24mm T1.5, 55mm T1.4, and 85mm T1.4 ASPH lenses. The 35mm T1.6 in our set is part of our new FD-X lenses (the X meaning eXtended), which were developed by TLS to match the best of the original FD lineup. Since only the 24mm, 55mm, and 85mm were available in high-speed aspherical versions, these three FD-X focal lengths are the best possible lenses one could use in order to match this set as close to K-35 focals/apertures.
The 35mm is a Minolta lens from the 1980s. It’s also a Japanese-made, aspherical lens, with performance, bokeh, and flare character very similar to the 24mm, 55mm, and 85mm FDs.
Note: All lenses cover FF format, the 28mm, 35mm FD-X, 55mm, 85mm, 100mm, 135mm fully cover Medium Format (FUJIFILM GFX100 / GFX ETERNA). The 18mm FD-X and 24mm cover Medium Format with an 8% image crop.
