Asahi Takumar FF GL Optics Mk V Rehoused PL Lenses
Crafted by the long-established Asahi Optical Company, one of Japan's oldest optics manufacturers, these lenses come with a profound heritage. Bearing the name "Takumar" in honor of the founder's brother, Takuma Kajiwara, they symbolize the blending of family heritage and optical mastery.
In 1971, Asahi introduced a groundbreaking lens technology called the "Super Multi Coated" (SMC) process, which revolutionized the industry. This innovation significantly minimized lens flare, improved color accuracy, and produced a subtle contrast that was highly appreciated by artists. This achievement had such a profound impact that Zeiss obtained the rights to incorporate Asahi's SMC design into their own lenses, forever known as Zeiss "T*”
Every lens in the collection upholds the SMC tradition, delivering a painterly rendering with ethereal attributes. Among these, the 35mm f/2.0 and 50mm f/1.4 lenses have garnered a devoted following due to their enchanting imaging characteristics and smooth bokeh. Our set also boasts the elusive 50mm 8-element Super Takumar, dating back to around 1964, celebrated for its distinct optical attributes. As for the 15mm lens, it's the scarce aspherical edition, with rumors suggesting that only 400 of them were ever manufactured!
The new housings have new matte-finished 16-blade circular irises, 114mm fronts, 300 degree focus rotation, PL mounts, matching gear positions, and improved close focus distances.
Note: All lenses cover the FF format, the 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, 135mm fully cover Medium Format (FUJIFILM GFX100 / GFX ETERNA).
