Cooke Varotal 25-250mm T3.9 MKII PL Zoom Lens
This Cooke Varotal 25-250mm T3.9 MKII Zoom Lens is an excellent lens for vintage use with 35mm cameras and sensors. Cooke Zoom lenses have become legendary in the motion picture industry due to their highly-sought after unique “Cooke Look”. Originally developed for 35mm film use, Cooke lenses are known for their soft, organic feel & beautiful depiction of skin tones. Released in 1983, the Cooke Varotal 25-250mm MKII was the successor to Cooke’s first long rang 10:1 zoom lens. Available in two versions; the Cooke 25-250mm MKII can be found with the focus ring at the front of the barrel or with the zoom ring forward & focus at the rear of the barrel. This Cooke Varotal has the zoom ring in front with focus behind, often considered the early Panavsion-style.
NOTE: We highly recommend using the Veydra 1.2x expander with this lens to get better sensor coverage on cameras with sensors larger than Super 35 like Alexa Mini Open Gate and RED Gemini, Dragon, Helium. The Veydra allows lenses like these to cover much larger sensors with virtually no loss of image quality and only 1/4 stop of light loss!
