LOMO 50mm T1.5 High-Speed Round Front Anamorphic Lens Rehoused

$300.00

This lens is a one-of-a-kind LOMO Round Front Anamorphic 50mm T1.5 (f1.2), rehoused by Van Diemen. There are a very few of these high speed LOMO Anamorphics in existence and this is the only rehoused one out there.

Most folks are familiar with the "standard speed," f2 LOMO Round Fronts, which are fantastic. They did however make a few sets of high-speed Round Fronts. This was not a situation where we put a high speed lens behind a LOMO Round Front Anamorphic front (which is complete doable). This is a purpose built lens, that does not share a lot of DNA with the standard LOMO Round Fronts. However the optical design for this lens is unique to the high speed anamorphic sets they were building.

The base 50mm lens is a LOMO 50mm f1.2. The resulting lens is amazing. You can actually shot it wide open for a dreamy look. Stop it down to T2 and it's sharper than most vintage anamorphic lenses. At T2.8 its quite sharp, sharper than standard speed LOMOs. It's got nice barrel distortion, and flares typical of LOMOs. The lens was overhauled and rehoused by Van Diemen. the lens now has internal focus, which means no more telescoping and rotating front! It's matte box friendly! It has a standard 134mm OD front, so it will work with any 4x5.65 clip-on matte box out there. And of course, it has a stainless steel PL Mount.
